After School Adventure

Greensview PTO After School Adventure (ASA)

Registration Open through Jan 11th

The PTO offers After School Adventure (ASA) 2-3 times each year.  ASA is offered to grades K-5 with a variety of classes held immediately after school at Greensview or at local businesses.  Programs can be 4-6 weeks long or a one-day class. Instructors are from area businesses and offer  a variety of classes.  One parent is needed to stay for each class to take attendance and help in case of disciplinary or emergency needs.

Contact Donna Blanch with any questions.

  • Registration is open.
  • If there is insufficient enrollment for a course, the class will be cancelled. Paypal will refund your money or your check will be voided and returned to you via your child’s backpack along with a note explaining that the class was cancelled.
  • Assume that your child has been accepted to each class for which they registered, unless you receive a note saying otherwise.
  • Students should arrive promptly to class.  He/she is your responsibility until the class begins.  There are no provisions for supervision except during scheduled class time.  It is imperative the student knows where to report.  If you feel the student will not be able to get to the class alone, please make arrangements to assist them.  Additionally, understand that it is not the teachers’ responsibility to escort a student to a class or remind them about a class.
  • Location of the classes held at Greensview will be emailed to you prior to the initiation of the class.  They will be in the same room each week unless you are notified otherwise
  • Prompt pick up of your student is crucial.  There will be no supervision after class ends.  Parents/guardians are to pick the student up from the front door.  You must sign your student out, or the student must give the parent volunteer a written note to go home with someone else or walk.
  • A snack will not be provided.  Your child may bring a snack to be eaten before class.  Please clean up when finished.
  • In the event of school closings due to inclement weather, both onsite and offsite ASA courses will be cancelled for the day.  Make up information will be conveyed to you as needed
  • Please note the following: No refunds after Jan 11th.

Financial Need Procedures

  • Help will be made available to those who have financial need.  The offer is limited to one course per child, per session.  Financial need application forms are available from Mr. Wulf and will be kept strictly confidential.  Please call Mr. Wulf at 487-5150, ext. 5501 or email him at jwulf@uaschools.org to request an application.  He will forward an application form to you.
  • Simply complete the financial need application form and return it to the school office in a sealed envelope marked “Attention Mr. Wulf.”  At registration please email Donna Blanchthe class that you are interested in taking.  Do not register on line. Committee members will keep all requests confidential.  This is for financial need only, not for academic excellence.

Parent Volunteers

  • We need one parent volunteer per class to assist the instructor with attendance and dismissal at every class that meets at Greensview.  You need to stay with the class during the class time.
  • In order to provide continuity for our parents, students, and session leaders, we are offering a 50% ASA registration refund for any parent who volunteers to cover ALL sessions.  This offer is on a first come, first serve basis.
  • An ASA committee member will contact you to confirm your involvement.  For security purposes, we ask that you remain for the entire class.
  • The course will be cancelled if we do not have enough parent volunteers.

Volunteers need background checks per the UA School Board Policy. Please visit www.uaschools.org/volunteer to initiate the background check process at your earliest convenience.  There is no charge to the volunteer for the background check.  You will be notified via email once the background check is processed, and at that point, you will be asked come to the district’s central office, 1950 North Mallway Drive, to receive your official volunteer identification badge and sign the volunteer form.  Background checks and badges must be renewed every three school years. Additional information on volunteering and the background check process is available online at www.uaschools.org/volunteer.  For additional questions, please contact your building principal or the district’s central office at (614) 487-5000. Thank you for your cooperation with this safety initiative and for the time and expertise you donate to Upper Arlington’s students!

All students participating in Greensview’s After School Adventure Program are expected to follow Upper Arlington’s “Pillars of Ethical Behavior.”  Greensview school rules and the Upper Arlington Schools Students Rights and Responsibilities Handbook continue to guide student behavior during After School Adventure classes.  If a parent is informed of a second warning from the instructor concerning inappropriate behavior, a child will not be permitted to return to the course.  Fees will not be refunded under these circumstances.

We hope your student enjoys the course offerings.  Thank you in advance for your continued support of After School Adventure.
